1 C Raisins
2 C Flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground clove
1 C shortening
1 C Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
2 C Oats
1 C Nuts (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cover raisins with hot water, simmer 10 minutes. Drain, reserve 1/3 cup of raisin liquid.
Sift flour with soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Gradually add sugar and shortening in bowl, cream. Blend in eggs, vanilla, beat well. Stir in raisins and reserved raisin liquid. Add dry ingredients. Add oats and nuts. Mix thoroughly . Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 m
