3 cups of granulated sugar
1½ cups of hot water
¼ tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla
2½ cup powder sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a 2 quart saucepan, combine granulated sugar, hot water and cream of tartar
Cover and cook until boiling
Uncover, clip candy thermometer to sauce pan
Cook until mixture is 226º F on the candy thermometer
Remove from heat
Cool to room temperature to 110º F
Stir in vanilla
Stir in enough shifted powdered sugar to make pouring consistency
Tint with food coloring, if desired
Spoon over individual petit four cake pieces
