Main Dough

1 cup Crisco
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 eggs and 1 yolk
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups sifted flour
¼ tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Blend Crisco, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients and add with milk to Crisco mixture.
Divide into two parts. To Part 2 add enough flour to roll (1 cup).
Bake cookies on greased pans
 

Part 1 - Drop dough

Fruit drops:
½ cup dates, chopped
½ cup chopped figs
¼ cup chopped nuts
¼ cup cherries, chopped

Add to half of the drop dough. Stir in 1 tsp almond extract.
Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie pan.
Bake at 375º for 15 minutes.
 

Part 1 - Meringue Tops

1 egg white
1 cup brown sugar
⅓ cup chopped nuts

Directions:

Spread main dough in a cookie pan about ¼ inch thick. Cover with egg white and brown sugar. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Bake in a slow oven 325º for 25 minutes
 

Part 2 - Roll Dough

Gumdrop Stars:
⅛ tsp cloves
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 cup gumdrops, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
To half of the rolled dough add cloves, cinnamon and gumdrops.
Roll to a sheet ¼ inch thick.
Bake at 375º for15 minutes.
Cut into shapes
 

Date Pinwheels

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cup pitted chopped dates

Directions:
Directions:
Cook dates, sugar and water to a paste.
Cool
Roll dough 1/8 in thick. Spread date mixture on top of dough, and roll up like a jelly roll. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill. Slice cross wise.
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes
