1 c. raisins
1 c. water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. salt
2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal
¾ c. of chopped nuts
¼ extra raisins to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. Boil raisins and water, making ½ to ¾ cup of raisin juice.
2. Take raisins out of the raisin juice and set aside.
3. Once raisin juice is cooled, add 1 tsp baking soda, and mix well, until dissolved.
4. Cream the sugar, shortening, and eggs. Mix well.
5. Add vanilla, salt, flour, oatmeal.
6. Mix in chopped nuts and raisins from raisin water.
7. Mix and drop from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
8. Bake until brown.
