1 1/3 c boiling water
1 c oats
3/4 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 1/3 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1 1/4 c flour
1 t baking soda
2 t cinnamon
1/2 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oats and let cool. Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla to sugar mixture. Combine flour, sugar and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with oat mix to creamed mixture.
Bake in greased (unfloured) pan, 350º til done.

3 T butter
1 1/2 c brown sugar
5 T milk
2 egg yolks
1 c coconut
1 c nuts (pecans are best)

Spread icing over hot cake and return to oven (not broiler) for 10 minutes.
