2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. 2% milk
3 t. baking powder
pinch of salt
2 t. vanilla extract
1/3 c. chopped pecans or walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl -
using a mixer - mix butter (room temperature) and sugar thoroughly. Beat in 4 eggs yolks, one at a time. Blend in 1 c. flour and 1/2 c. milk. Blend in the remaining flour & milk. Blend in baking powder,salt, vanilla extract, and chopped nuts.
In a separate bowl, beat 4 egg whites until stiff but not dry, then gently fold egg whites into cake batter. Preheat oven to 350. Grease & flour a bundt pan. Bake in oven for 40 - 45 minutes at 350(middle oven rack) or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
