1 package lemon or orange gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups chopped or grated apple
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, or whatever you like – unsalted peanuts may be substituted in case of tree nut allergy)
1/2 cup grapes (halved – may be red, black, or green) OR .5 cup raisins

Dissolve gelatin in water and add other ingredients when partially set. Serve on crisp lettuce with your favorite dressing. (This recipe is a flashback to the 1940s!)
