2 cups sugar.
1 cup butter.
3 eggs.
1 tsp vanilla extract.
1 cup milk.
4 1/2 cups flour.
1 tsp baking soda.
1 tsp salt.
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg.
1 tsp baking powder.

1. Beat sugar and butter well to creamy mixture. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Slowly add and beat milk.

2. Stir in and mix well remaining ingredients. You may sift some of the flour with baking soda and powder to make sure there are no lumps. Store cookie dough in refrigerator overnight.

3. Roll on floured surface; work quickly and keep dough cold. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut with cutter. Sprinkle top with sugar.

4. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes on top rack. Remove from cookie sheet immediately.
