1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup Crisco shortening
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda (slightly heaping)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 to 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. USING AN ELECTRIC MIXER, combine sugar, brown sugar, and shortening and cream until smooth. Then whip it for another 90 seconds.

2. Add eggs and beat on high until batter is smooth.

3. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla to batter slowly while mixing.

4. Add chocolate chips and then spoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet

5. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes

Grandma Shirley always claimed this was the recipe she took off the chocolate chip bag, but it seems to have changed over the years.

Also over the years, the way they manufacture the shortening has changed, so the taste is not the same as it seemed originally. Still good though!!
