1 C. granulated sugar
1/2 C. shortening
1 egg
1¾ C. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 C. buttermilk
3/4 C. chopped pecans
1 C. chopped dates
16 oz. Pennant Fruit Cake Mix

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Reserve a little flour to toss with fruit. Combine remaining flour with salt and baking soda. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk into shortening milk. Toss fruits with reserved flour. Fold in floured fruits and chopped pecans. Drop by spoonfulls onto greased baking sheets about 2" apart. Bake 8-13 minutes, depending on size of cookie.
