1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 egg, unbeaten
NO OIL or BUTTER

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 º
Mix all ingredients and add to a 8-inch greased pan.
Bake for 15-18 minutes. Cool and cut into bars

My friend Betty and I first tasted these at a Christmas fair and loved them but didn't
want to buy the cookbook! So, we tried to each memorize 1/2 the ingredients and of course failed -so had to go buy the cookbook at the Christmas fair the following year- hence the cooky name
