1/2 cup shortening or lard
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
5 T. soured milk or buttermilk
2 eggs
2 cups flour
3 large ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Mix shortening, eggs and sugar.
Mix flour, salt and baking soda and add to wet mixture.
Add remaining ingredients, mix well and bake in 2 loaf pans or 4 mini loaf pans until browned and toothpick comes out clean in middle.

( this will fit in one large loaf pan but is hard to get done in middle!)
