Cranberry Bread Recipe

3 cups flour
3 tsp baking soda
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
½ cup shortening
1½ cups sugar
2 large eggs
¾ cup orange juice
¾ cup chopped walnuts
2¼ cups cranberries, coarsely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift first three ingredients
2. Add baking soda to shortening and mix well
3. Gradually blend in sugar
4. Beat in eggs one at a time.
5. Add flour alternatively with orange juice.
6. Stir in the nuts and cranberries
7. Place in a well greased and lightly floured loaf pan. Can also be divided into two loaf pans for smaller loafs.

Bake @ 350º for 1½ hours (a little less if divided among two pans)

This is my favorite bread recipe from Gramma. Growing up, it was a holiday tradition to have this bread for breakfast every Christmas morning. It is a tradition I have tried to carry on! The bread also makes a nice,festive gift at the holidays.
