25 dates, pitted and diced
½ cup unsalted pistachio nuts
½ cup almonds
½ cup yellow raisins
1 ½ apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1 pomegranate
1 orange, peeled and diced
1 banana, sliced
½-1 cup sweet red wine
¼ cup cider vinegar
½ tablespoon cayenne
1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon black pepper

1. Combine all the fruits and nuts.
2. Add the wine and vinegar until a pastry consistency is reached.
3. Add the spices and blend well. Adjust seasonings.

Charoset, aka Charoses, is a required component of the Passover Seder. Most American Jews usually go with the standard apple based charoset. However, there are many varieties from the many countries where Jewish people have dwelled. The only elements that are required for a concoction to qualify as charoset is at least one of the following: fruit, nuts, spices, wine.
