⅔ cup solid vegetable shortening at room temperature
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
⅔ cup sugar
2 eggs beaten to blend
1 tsp. of vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. five spice powder
½ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. cinnamon
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Grease cookie sheets,

Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar in large bow until light and fluffy.

Mix in eggs and vanilla.

Add flour, oatmeal, baking soda and spices.Blend well.

Stir in raisins and nuts.

Drop batter on baking sheets by heaping teaspoons.

Bake until lightly browned. DO NOT OVERBAKE.

Cool on racks.
