¾ c sugar
¼ c butter
1½ squares unsweetened chocolate
2 T light corn syrup
Dash salt
¼ c milk
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In small saucepan, combine sugar, butter, chocolate squares, corn syrup and salt. Mix well. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. Add milk; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract. Serve warm over ice cream or cake.


Makes 1 cup sauce.

This is a recipe that we have made for years. It is excellent over ice cream and is made with ingredients that are typically already in the cupboard (just the thing for late night snack attacks!). The recipe comes from a booklet, "Nestle All Time Favorites", published many years ago.

The original recipe called for 2 envelopes (2 oz) Nestle Choco-bake which I never used. Not sure that I ever saw it on our local grocery shelves. I found the unsweetened chocolate to work very well.
