3 Cups milk
3 Cups half n half
1⅔ Cups sugar
1 Tbs cornstarch
4 eggs
1 Tbs vanilla and 1 qt fresh fruit peeled and chopped\mashed and slightly sweetened

Directions:
Directions:
Heat milk, sugar and cornstarch (do not boil). Beat eggs and add slowly to milk and continue to cook until slightly thickened (just until it sticks to spoon). Cool in refrigerator. Stir in remaining vanilla and fruit mix and pour into Ice cream maker container. Run ice cream maker an add 4 cups of ice to 1 cup of rock salt, in layers until freezer is full, refill as necessary. continue until motor stops, unplug and drain excess water repack with ice and salt cover with old towels and let sit for 1 to 2 hours.

During freezing, make sure that the drain hole stays open and is draining so salt water won’t enter the enclosed ice cream container!

This was my mom‘s recipe when we made ice cream with a crank freezer later we graduated to an electric freezer but however you make it it’s wonderful. Try it with fresh peaches or strawberries, or any other fresh summer fruit that you like!
