4 cups sugar
2 cups Karo syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1 quart whipping cream
1 can evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup crushed almonds, pecans, or walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, salt, syrup, and 2 cups cream.
Bring to a boil on high heat.
Add the rest of the cream as it boils. Keep mixing.
As it boils down, add canned milk.
Boil to 232º (hard ball), stirring constantly. This will take 40-45 minutes.
Add vanilla and nuts after removed from the heat, then pour into a baking sheet.
Allow to cool completely to room temperature, then cut into edible bites and wrap individually in wax paper.
