2 lbs ground round
1Cup chopped onions
1 tsp minced garlic
16 oz tomato sauce
32 oz Petite diced tomatoes
12 oz tomato paste
Note: Use "no sodium added" tomato sauce & diced tomatoes.

1 1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
1 1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 1/2 tsp dried Thyme leaves
3 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

In dutch oven thoroughly brown ground beef over medium/high heat. (It's easier to do a pound at a time)
Drain beef and chop into small pieces.
Saute onions over medium/low heat until they are soft and translucent then add garlic and saute 1 more minute.
Add tomato sauce, paste and diced.
Add dry ingredients and simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally.
