1 1/4 cups margarine
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3 cups Quaker oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
12 oz butterscotch morsels

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Beat margarine and sugars until fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Add combined flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix well.
Stir in oats and morsels.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookies, 10 to 11 minutes for crisp cookies.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
Store tightly covered.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
