2 c all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 ½ sticks (3/4 c) unsalted butter, softened
1 c sugar
1 large egg
½ tsp vanilla
½ c Dutch-processed unsweetened cocoa
½ tsp baking soda
10 ½oz fine quality bittersweet chocolate, melted & cooled

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Sift/whisk together flower, baking powder & salt; set aside.

Beat butter & sugar until lite & fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in egg & vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture. Dough will be stiff.

Add cocoa, soda & chocolate. Form into 12” log. Roll log into nonpareils. Using very sharp knife, slice into 1/8-1/4” round slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 12-15 minutes, rotating ½ way through.
