Aunt Val's Sugar Cookies


Ingredients:

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 t. baking soda (dissolved in the buttermilk)
3 t. baking powder
2 t. vanilla
4 c. flour
1/4 t. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, shortening and eggs. Mix well, then add buttermilk and baking soda. Blend and add flour, salt, and baking powder. Add vanilla and chill for 2 hours. Roll and cut out (roll 1/2 batter with 1 cup+ flour) or drop by spoonfuls on ungreased airbake cookie sheet. Bake 325º for 8-10 min. You will have to use a lot of flour if rolling them out.
 

Frosting for Aunt Val's Sugar Cookies


Ingredients:

1/4 c. crisco
1/4 c. oleo
2 cups. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/2 - 1 T. milk
dash of salt



Directions:

Cream Crisco and butter. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, milk and dash of salt. Mix until fluffy.
