DOUGH

1 cup Crisco
1 cup sugar
1 cup hot water
2 tsp salt
1 cup cold water
1/2 cake yeast
2 well beaten eggs
8 cups flour

NUT FILLING

4 pounds ground walnuts
2 cups milk
2 cup sugar
4 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt

DOUGH DIRECTIONS

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water
Mix Crisco, sugar, hot water and salt
Mix flour, eggs and cold water into above ingredients
Add yeast and mix well
Let raise in refrigerator for 2 hours
Divide dough into 4 equal amounts
Roll each dough ball into rectangle and spread with melted butter
Add desired filling
Roll up
Place on greased baking sheet and let raise in warm place 1 1/2 - 2 hours
Brush tops with beaten egg yolks and water
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes

NUT FILLING DIRECTIONS

Add 1/4 amount of nuts with the rest of the ingredients in large saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add remaining nuts

You can substitute poppy seed or apricot filling for nut filling. Mom and Grandma always made all three.
