1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
4 eggs, separated

3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla or orange extract
1 cup milk

Grease and flour large turks head or two-piece tube pan.
Separate egg yolks from whites.
With mixer, cream/beat egg yolks, sugar, vanilla, and butter together.
In bowl combine flour, salt, & baking powder with a wisk (or sifter).
Blend 1/3 of flour mixture into butter/sugar mixture.
Blend 1/2 of milk into batter.
Blend 1/3 of flour into batter.
Blend rest of milk into batter.
Blend rest of flour mixture into batter.
Scrape bowl to be sure all is well combined.
Using clean beaters, beat egg whites in separate clean bowl until peaks form.
Gently fold into batter.
Pour into cake pan and bake for 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean.
