Prepare a 10-inch black skillet or dish of choice. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Add to baking dish:
1/2 stick butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
Mix in black skillet on top of stove for about 4 minutes, stirring often or place in oven to melt. Stir.
Pineapple slices. If fresh, remove core from slices with small biscuit cutter. Remove brown spots.
Maraschino cherries

Batter:
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup brown sugar
Mix this until creamy! Add:
1 1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Add flour and milk alternately.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine batter completely. To brown sugar and butter in baking dish add sliced pineapple; add a maraschino cherry to center of pineapple slices. Spray "Bakers Joy" on sides of skillet or dish (hold over the sink). Slowly add batter on top of pineapple slices and bake 25-35 minutes ir until brown and tests done with toothpick.
