1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup hot water

Measure the flour, then sift. Add the ingredients listed in the order in the recipe, do not mix until all ingredients are in the bowl. Beat until smooth, batter is kind of thick. Bake in 350º oven until toothpick comes out clean.
