2 tbsp butter
1½ tbsp flour
½ tsp salt
pinch of pepper
1 tsp sugar
1 small onion, diced
1 cup sour cream
3 cans green beans
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup crumbled buttery crackers
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 can French’s fried onions

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Sauté onions in butter. Add flour, stir until smooth and cook for 1 minute. Stir in salt, pepper, sugar and sour cream. Add green beans & 1 cup of cheese. Gently stir until green beans are evenly coated.

Transfer green bean mixture to a casserole dish. Spread remaining cup of cheese over green beans. In a small bowl, toss together crumbs and butter and sprinkle over the cheese. Sprinkle 1 can of French’s fried onions over top of crumbs.

Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven, or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.

A change from the typical can of mushroom sauce. Green beans & onions stirred into a homemade sour cream sauce, then topped with cheese, crackers and fried onions…Yum! A perfect side for Thanksgiving dinner or any dinner!
