1/2 tsp salt
3 TBSP baking powder
2 cups flour
1/4 cup shortening
2/3-3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix salt and baking powder into flour.
Cut in shortening with fingers til mixture resembles fine meal.
Add milk, all at once, and mix with fork to a soft dough.
Turn out on lightly floured board and knead a few times.
Cut with biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 450° for 10-15 minutes.

Most homemakers have a recipe or two they whip out at a moments notice by memory. Kathy and Nancy wanted me to include this Baking Powder Biscuit recipe used while they grew up.It is served as a dinner bread or as a shortcake for fruit.
Sprinkle the tops before baking with a little sugar when used with strawberries or peaches or...season dough with herbs or onion flakes for a dinner bread.
