1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/8 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoons baking powder
6 ounce package chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º

Mix together vegetable shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla.

Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Add to the wet mixture and stir until incorporated. Add chocolate chips to the dough, mix well.

Drop rounded teaspoonful onto a lightly greased cookie sheet about 2" apart.

Bake until lightly browned. 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies should still be slightly soft. Cool, then remove from cookie sheet.
