2 pounds raisins
1 pint strong black tea
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
4 cups plain flour
2 heaped teaspoons baking powder
4 oz mixed peel
4 oz glaze cherries
4 oz chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve sugar in tea, add raisins and leave steeping overnight.
The next day, beat eggs and add to raisins, sugar and tea.
Then add cherries, peel and nuts.
Add sieved flour and baking powder and mix well.
Bake in a 10inch lined tin in moderate oven for two hours.

This was our Dad’s mother’s recipe for tea brack. Nanny’s brack was the go to recipe for the bus drivers’ families from the Broadstone Bus Depot.
