1 1/2 Cup Sugar
4 Cups Milk
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/3 Cup cornstarch
Vanilla, or other extract to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Place 3 cups of milk and sugar in saucepan and heat (DO NOT STIR until the milk is hot)

Mix another 1 cup of milk with 1/3 cup cornstarch and add to the sugar/milk mixture.

heat until all sugar is melted and milk is hot

If adding fruit mix in at this time.

Please this cream in about 3 inches form the top of the ice maker. Freeze according to ice cream maker recommendations

This was the recipe that your great-grandmother (Ruby Lee Culpepper Farmer) used when we used to make ice cream.

We would then put into a manual ice cream churn, pack it with ice and ice cream salt - We would all take turns sitting on the top of the churn on newspaper to keep the churn from moving - IT WAS COLD!!
