2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup boiling water
2 cups flour
6 heaping tsp cocoa
1 tsp soda
salt and vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the sugar and shortening. Blend in the eggs and vanilla. Add buttermilk and stir until just blended. Sift together the flour, cocoa, soda and salt. Add to mixture. Stir in the boiling water.

Pour into a 9x13 pan that has been greased and floured.

Bake at 350º for 30 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center)

Note: This recipe is best if done by hand rather than an electric mixer
