Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 - 9" pie crusts
8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
½ stick butter
3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
¼ c. water
½ c. sugar
½ c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º F

Peel and core and slice apples (thinly). Set aside.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and stir to form a paste, cook 1 - 2 minutes. Add both sugars, water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3 - 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Place sliced apples in crust, then slice the second pie crust into strips, and lattice over top of apples.

Slowly and gently pour sugar & butter mixture over lattice crust, making sure it seeps over through the apple slices.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350º and continue baking until apples are soft and pie is golden brown 35 - 45 minutes.
