3 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp mace
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup currants
1/4 cup peel
2 eggs
6 Tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add fruit, then eggs mixed with milk. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a sharp 2 inch cutter.

Bake on fry pan 250ºF for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
