1 ½ cup sifted powdered sugar
2 ½ cup flour
1 cup butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. almond flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar and butter. Mix in beaten egg and flavorings. In a separate bowl, mix flour, soda, and cream of tartar. Gradually add to dough mixture and mix well. Refrigerate at least three hours or over night. Preheat oven to 350º. Divide cookie dough in half and allow to soften slightly at room temperature. Roll out on lightly floured pastry cloth to 3/16 inch thick. Cut out, sprinkle with sugar and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 7 - 8 minutes or until lightly golden. Do not overbake.
Makes approximately 5 dozen 2 - 2½ inch cookies.
