2 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
4 beaten eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix in sugar to the beaten eggs.
Add in flour, baking powder, and vanilla.
Melt butter in with the boiling water and then mix in.
Mixture will be thin. Pour into a greased 13x9 pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

This recipe was my mom's favorite and my grandma's favorite! My dad also loved it because he grew up often putting only butter on the top of his cake as he lived on a farm and had lots of that around. The rest of us loved it put together as strawberry shortcake with lots of whip cream!
