Directions:
Start by adding olive oil to the pot. Then, add the onion and any peppers that you choose. Once the onions and peppers caramelize, add the ground meat. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook ground meat until crumbly and no longer pink. Dump in the cans of beans and tomatoes. Bring to a low boil and reduce to a simmer. Simmer for approximately 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly, stirring occasionally. If cooking all day turn down to a simmer after adding the beans and tomatoes. Stir occasionally.
Serve Busy Day Beans with tortilla chips, shredded cheese, sour cream, and pickled jalapenos.

Personal Notes:
I created this recipe after wanting to serve baked beans for a gathering, but I found the traditional recipe too sweet and time-consuming. After experimenting with different flavor profiles, I came up with this slightly sweet but also a savory bowl of beans that has been a family favorite for many years. This recipe is versatile because you can use different beans or ground meats. You can also make it mild or spicy, depending on your preferences. My only tried and true beans are the Grillin' Beans Steakhouse Recipe by Bush's.
Busy day beans are perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, BBQs, and football season. They can be a meal or a side dish. You can cook the beans low and slow all day or whip them up quickly for a satisfying supper.
I always encourage my children to make a recipe theirs by adding their own twist, and I hope you will do the same.
Enjoy!
Judie
