1Cup boiling water
1 Cup Dates, chopped
1 Teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup butter
1 Cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 ¼ Cup flour
1 Teaspoon baking powder
½ Teaspoon salt
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup Walnuts, Chopped
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º, grease a 9x9 Baking pan
In sauce pan of boiling water add dates and baking soda, stir, set aside to cool
In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, and beaten egg, set aside
Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture.
Pour date mixture into batter mixture
Stir and add vanilla and nuts
Pour into prepared baking pan and bake 30 to 45 minutes
Remove from oven, cool and serve with cool whip
