• 1 ½ cups dark molasses
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2/3 cup cold water
• 1/3 cup shortening
• 7 cups flour
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp allspice
• 2 tsp ginger
• 1 tsp ground cloves
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix molasses, sugar, water, and shortening. Add flour & remaining ingredients. Mix well, cover & refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Lightly flour a cutting board and roll half of the dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut out cookies and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. Repeat process with remaining dough. Cool completely and decorate if desired.
