1/2 c. shortening
2 squares chocolate (4 oz.)
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts or less

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and shortening over warm water- cool. (I think in 2023 one could use the microwave). Beat eggs till light, add sugar then chocolate mixture. Add flour mixture then vanilla and nuts. Cool before cutting into squares. Can sprinkle some of the nuts on top or frost if you wish. Use 8 x 8 pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350º.
