1/2 c. shortening (use half butter and half Crisco).
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. quick oatmeal
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chocolate chips.

Directions:

Cream sugars, shortening and vanilla till light. Add unbeaten egg, then mix well. Add flour mixture that has been sifted, then oatmeal, nuts and finally chocolate chips.
Bake at 375º (she said 325º). Bake for 7 to 9 minutes.
