1 lb. seedless raisins
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 T. cinnamon
1/2 lb. dates
1/2 c. butter
2 c. water
2 c. sugar

1 tsp. soda
4 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. ground walnuts
3 tsp. baking powder
2 c. raw apples, diced
maraschino cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Combine raisins, cloves, cinnamon, dates, butter water and sugar and boil for three minutes. Cool. Add soda, flour, salt, walnuts, baking powder and apples.

Pour into well-greased and floured tube pan lined with brown paper on bottom. Cover top with nut halves and whole or 1/2 maraschino cherries. Bake at 350º for 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pan for five minutes and then cool overnight on a rack. Wrap in saran wrap and store in cool place. It is actually better if frozen, then thawed.
