Directions:
Directions:
Let pickles stand in hot salt water 24 hours. 1/2 c salt to 4 quarts water. Drain. Then scald pickles in 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar and 1 tsp alum. Dry and put into jars. Fill with cold vinegar. Add sugar and spices to suit taste. "We put 6 T sugar to each quart jar."
