Combine and beat thoroughly:

1/2 cup homogenized spry

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup sugar

2 unbeaten eggs


Sift together:

2 cups sifted all purpose flour (Add 1/2 cup flour to each batch - 2 1/2 total

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda - add to spry mixture and blend


Add:

2 tablespoons milk and mix well



Icing:

1 pound powder sugar sifted

1 stick butter

1 tsp vanilla

Some milk

Beat for 3 minutes mix 1/2 sugar first. Then add rest of sugar and milk until your ready to ice.

Measure out dough on spry coated baking sheets. Flatten cookies with rolling pin. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake in moderately hot oven 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
