2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1 c. sour milk
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1 c. cocoa
1 c. shortening

Filling:
2 egg whites
2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. milk
3/4 c. Crisco
2 c. powdered (10X) sugar
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks then add milk. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder. Add to batter. Put soda in hot water and add last. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet and bake at 350º for 12 minutes. Cool. Match cookie sizes and spread filling between.

Filling: Combine unbeaten egg whites, vanilla, flour, milk and salt. Add Crisco and powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
