3 cups sifted all purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon each: baking soda, salt
1 1/2 cups raisins or currants (Golden raisins are what my grandma used)
2 eggs, well beaten
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sift dry ingredients. Stir in raisins. Add remaining ingredients and mix briefly until dry ingredients are moistened; do not overmix.

2. Transfer batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 2 inch loaf pan. Bake until toothpick is clean, about an hour. Cool on wire rack.

This is a recipe from my Grandma, Ann Cummings. We made this all the time when I was little and now I make it every March with my daughter.
