1 quart strawberries
3 cup sugar, divided

Clean and hull strawberries.

Over low heat cook strawberries with 1 cup of the sugar. Stir gently and bring to the boiling point.

Skim off any foam and spread in a shallow dish to cool.

Spoon into jars, makes 2 pints.

My mother gave me this recipe over the phone many years ago. It was the jam that her mother used to make. I have looked and have not found her original recipe.
