Mix as for pie crust:
2½ cups rolled oats
2½ cups flour
1 cup sortening
Add:
1/2 cup brown sugar dissolved in
1/2 cup warm water and
1/2 tsp baking soda

Filling: one 8 oz package dates
1 cup sugar
1 cup cold water
Cook until thick. Set aside to cool.

Mix well and roll thin as for pie crust,
cut into cookie size rounds...
Bake at __________
Put two cookies together with date filling,
