A Cassil Family Cookout Favorite


Ingredients:

55 oz. pork and beans
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. mustard
1/2 - 1 lb. bacon, cooked and chopped
14 oz. ketchup

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º.

Mix all ingredients together and put in an oven safe dish, like a large pot or casserole dish. Bake for 1 hour. Stir every 20 minutes.

I first had Judy's famous cowboy beans when Brian and I were dating. I loved them! Throughout the years, they were a staple at any Cassil BBQ cookout. She always made them in the same large pot. After she passed away, one of the only things I cared about inheriting from her was her pot. I now make these beans quite often for my family and we love to think about Judy when we eat them.
