1 c shortening
1¾ c sugar
1 t vanilla
3 eggs, separated
1 c cold water
⅓ c pureed tomatoes
2½ c flour
½ c cocoa
1½ t baking soda
1 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 2 8½ in. cake pans. Cream together shortening, sugar, vanilla, water, pureed tomatoes. Separate eggs, blend in yolks. Beat whites until they are stiff, then fold into batter. In small bowl,sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Bake 35-40 minutes. Frost with chocolate butter frosting and top with strawberries.
